WAY TO GO JOE
Joe likes to ride the bigger horses at the Centre.  He shows great respect for horses by always giving his horse a big pat at the end of his ride.  Joe’s riding has progressed well over the past 2 ½ years and is now starting to trot in rhythm with the horse.  Way to go Joe.

To be accepted in the McIntyre Centre Horse Herd, a new candidate must pass a number of assessments.  While we have horses of all shapes, sizes, breeds and backgrounds, one trait which all our horses  have is the right temperament.  Can the horse be handled easily by volunteers and riders, does the horse remain relaxed when there is a lot of noise and activity around and will the horse adjust to having a leader and two side walkers with them during a riding session?  These are just a few of the questions that coaches need to consider when recruiting new horses.  Correctly assessing horses enable the Centre to ensure that our ponies and horses will be happy doing their work at the Centre and make great companions for our riders.
