Rebecca had a wonderful experience this year as a member of the Queensland Special Olympics Equestrian Team competing in Adelaide. To support this rider and donate towards the McIntyre Centre’s programs please click here Not Just Horsing Around A number of riders at the McIntyre Centre have goals to reach a competitive level of riding. These riders learn specific movements and practice precision and finer control of the horse. Extension programs such as attending the local Pony Club, mainstream equestrian events and competing in McIntyre Centre’s annual Dressage Day is a huge confidence boost for these riders. Currently Para-Equestrian (for people with a physical disability) is well supported and growing in numbers. In 2010 the Special Olympics (for people with an intellectual disability) included an equestrian competition as a demonstrations sport. It is hoped that this will be a permanent fixture in years to come. Read about another of our riders - Cody as he gets out of his wheelchair
